Digital Modes:
There are several well-established programs for working with APRS, as well as some newer entries to the field.
- UI-View. Local maps are available here. Also, M0CYP has a number of neat add-ons, and a current registration page.
- APRS-IS CE. This is the only version under heavy active development. Though it works on RF, it seems more designed to rely on the Internet for its functionality.
- xastir. Originally designed for Linux, there are versions of xastir available for all major desktop operating systems, including Mac. It's not as actively developed as APRS-IS, but maintains more of the original idea of APRS as an RF protocol.
